I observed an interesting behavior at the gym this afternoon.
The generally accepted practice is to use a disinfectant wipe to clean the surfaces of the equipment after you use it. That’s pretty much considered good manners at every gym I’ve ever attended.
This afternoon, however, I noticed this person clean it before she used the machine. “Interesting,” I thought. “I guess she is hyper-vigilent regarding cleaniness/hygiene.
But then I noticed that when she was finished, she did not clean up. “Well now,” I thought, “that means her sweat is right there for the next person, who will expect it to have been cleaned by the previous user.”
I got to wondering — I mean the mind does wander when you’re working out — if this was an indicator, a “tell,” about her personality.
Did it suggest that she was only concerned about herself, and not her fellow humans?
(Do I need go get a life?)
